When I got married 22 years ago, my husband’s family had 11 ritual ceremonies for their ancestors including(Lunar new year and Harvest moon holiday).
The items of ritual food are various, and the recipes were complicated.
I was very embarressed, because I was not interested in cooking and didn’t know where to begin.
But his aunts came to our home and prepared the ritual food.
After ancestral rites, my housand and I had to clean up unitl late in the evening.
Our family thought that holding memorial services several times cost a lot of money and consumed a lot of time and labor.
So we considered reducing  memorial services for a long time and concluded that we would only have them three times a year.
Today, my oldest brother in-law's wife goes to church. She doesn’t want to hold a memorial ceremony, but can’t help joining in when we prepare ritual food. Holding memorial ceremonies is much simpler these days.
