This is not a none-of-my-business situation to Korea. There were heated debates over the overall ban of corporal punishment last year. After that, some worry that the power of teachers’ rights could be deteriorating and collapsed. Since the ban of physical punishment 9 out of ten teachers have realized that the power of teachers’ rights is on a downward spiral. Needless to say, many teachers end up with having skepticism about teaching.

Under the circumstances this is nonsense if the Korean education system works well. It doesn’t sound reasonable if the liberal teachers insist on the complete ban of physical punishment. It could be right for the authorities to withdraw its decision if the Korean government will not follow in British footsteps. If not, it could be understood that the Korean government would not take responsibility for the education system.
