Digital libraries differ significantly from the traditional libraries because they allow users to gain the real time information on IT Service access. Oxford Bodleian classic library wears the digital converged space with very good harmony. To install the digital device & media into the physical space naturally well enough, we introduced ‘Digital Converged Space’ design. What does digital converged library mean? It creates cultural & personalized space; it’s more than just the building itself. People think of a library as a reading & research space and we are adding holistic users’ digital experience such as SNS, wayfinding, kiosk service, welcome board and then so that it becomes a cultural & personalized library. To design this digital converged space, we need a different approach compared to typical architectural design. We have to design it with users not just the architect’s talent. We are first starting with a co-creation workshop to achieve it.
